4 Sessions - February 10, February 24, March 3, March 10

Join us for this four-part series exploring how 17th and 18th century art and architecture speak about people’s lives and shed light on the events of the times. Noted lecturer and Lexington resident Miriam Butts will share her vast knowledge and her images from area collections.

1. American Portraiture gives a record of childhood, travel, professions, etc.
2. New England Meeting Houses, Manor Houses and Church Buildings, 17th – 20th centuries, reflect the architecture of their times. Examples of silver will be included.
3. New England and the China Trade describe the entrepreneurship of the times.
4. Landscape Paintings by American and French Impressionists will be explored through both pre- and post- Civil War periods.
