A spokesman for the company that built Midtown’s Centergy Parking Deck, which partially collapsed on June 29, said the deck's "design is as safe as any other," according to Atlanta Business Chronicle broadcast partner WXIA-TV 11Alive.

Gleich said the deck is a pre-fabricated, pre-cast concrete structure that was built eight years ago and is the same design at 60 percent of the parking structures in the United States. The cause of the “pancake collapse,” where a section of the fourth floor fell onto the third, second and first floors, is still under investigation.

A portion of the Centergy Parking Deck collapsed early Monday afternoon near the intersection of Spring and 5th Streets, damaging or destroying 38 vehicles.

Beginning at 5 p.m., owners will be able to claim their vehicles at the lot. Owners can send an e-mail to centergyparking@gofifthstreet.com and provide their name, e-mail address, cell and work phone numbers, make and model of car, color of car, and license plate number.
