Over 60,000 square yards of these hillsides are decorated by more than 400 figures of animals, humans, birds and shapes -- ancient aboriginal art nearly 1,000 years old. The ruins in the foreground are the remains of a community that once flourished here.
Nobody quite knows why the geoglyphs were placed here. There are various theories, ranging from extra terrestrials to a "signpost" for indigenous peoples. If you want to see the detail it's best viewed large.
