A church by the Wimbledon championships is letting tennis fans park above the bodies in the graveyard, a newspaper reported Thursday.

St. Mary's Church in Wimbledon, southwest London, is in a prime position overlooking the entire All England Club complex.

And the church is allowing tennis supporters to park above the remains of parishioners for 20 pounds (32.50 dollars, 23.40 euros) a time to leave their cars close to the action.

Pictures in Metro newspaper showed a BMW parked in tight between the headstones, while other drivers had to negotiate the trees and hedges to back their cars up on top of the graves

Reverend Mary Bide, the church rector, admitted the sight looked "odd" but said vehicles could only parked in the oldest part of the graveyard which contained remains from the 18th and 19th centuries whose descendants could not be traced.

The All England Club's old Court 2 was dubbed the "graveyard of the seeds" as so many top players tumbled there.
