It all started 30 years ago when a WBUR radio host invited some local mechanics to come on the air and talk about car repair.
Tom Magliozzi - who ran a do-it-yourself car repair shop in Cambridge with his brother, Ray - was the only one who showed up.
“I talked for 10 minutes and told him everything I know about cars,” recalled Magliozzi. “He said, ‘Well, we really have to stay on for another hour and a half,’ so I said, “Geez, can we take phone calls?”
