When Does Overeating Become A Disorder?


Does gorging at the buffet mean you have an illness?

They write young adult books about anorexia and they make made-for-TV movies about bulimia, but there’s another eating disorder you may not have heard so much about. Binge eating disorder doesn’t focus on weight loss. In fact, it often results in steady weight gain. But just because sufferers don’t become painfully skinny, starve themselves or purge everything they’ve eaten, doesn’t mean they don’t have an eating disorder. It may get less attention than anorexia or bulimia, but binge eating is just as unhealthy, just as dangerous and even more common.
