WARNING: The following blog may contain words that insult the reader's intelligence, and perhaps persuade them that the universe is not very meaningful after all.
Take INCENTIVE, for example. From the Latin "Inc"meaning "to overpay corporate executives" and the Greek "Entive", meaning: "of or pertaining to an Ent (a fictional character from The Lord of the Rings)", incentive was first coined to describe the practice of Ents beating their slaves over the head with blunt instruments in a vain endeavour to get them to do some work. Little has changed, except that Ents now mostly go under the name of "that ba$^%#d boss".
