WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama said Friday morning that watermarking authorized by former President George W. Bush amounts to image torture.
"No image should be subjected to such defacement. Watermarking goes beyond vandalism. It is a form of torture to unsuspecting images and should be thought of as such." says President Barack Obama in a recent press conference.
Watermarking first surfaced in Italy in 1282. Throughout the ages, watermarking has primarily been used on currency, postage stamps and government documents in an attempt to discourage counterfeiting.
In the digital age, Watermarking has been used primarily to protect images that may or may not be owned by the watermarker.
"Image watermarking amounts to digital graffiti." says Melissa Hathaway who is the front runner for the newly-created position of
Cybersecurity chief.
"Watermarkering is the top photo alteration technique used by digital terrorists, followed by thought bubbles, glitter and LOLspeak text overlays."
